Illegal Trolling

It is now illegal to anonymously troll the Internet.

I have to say, having been a forum administrator/contributor/whatever since the days of the Prodigy network that I actually agree with this Bush-sponsored initiative. Internet trolls have absolutely no value whatsoever, and this might discourage some of them.

You're supporting a kind of censorship? I find that very odd.

He must not support free speech. Internet trolls are a hassle, but if you don't want to deal with them, don't host comments on your site and don't read the comments elsewhere. Trolls avoided!

I find it odd that there are certain kinds of liberals who demands freedom of speech, claim they are being unfairly antagonized when their free speech is rebutted and support criminalizing a certain kind of online speech they find annoying.

Of course, if it means Democratic Underground goes bust, I'm all for it...

Why is it my posts about zombies don't get four comments in less than 24 hours?

From now on, I'm just going to post increasingly ludicrous political opinions just for the affirmation of a commenting readership.

You're funny. And to think, I started it all ;)

But it is an interesting topic - on the one hand, people are idiots, so it does make sense to control some nonsense so the rest of us don't have to deal with crap. But it's easy to make a slippery slope argument against that proposition; acknowledging, of course, the inherent flaws of slippery slope arguments.

Then again, if you're really for an oligarchy, then there's no real need for concern, unless other people dream of different oligarchies where you might not be so welcome. And if those other people have an army behind them… well, hence my original comment. You've always seemed very anti censorship - period.

But, maybe this falls under the category of things we shouldn't tolerate i.e. terrorists, Nazis, etc.?

(Ok, now you can consider yourself baited, though in a friendly way.)
